Toddler Playing

Infant & Toddler

When infants are enrolled, teachers take time to get to know each infant.  As infants settle in, they adjust to a schedule that fits their needs.

Interactions are key to infants’ learning, even at routine care times, like feeding and diapering. During their awake times, infants participate with the toddlers and engage in the activities as much as possible.

Toddlers are challenged on their level with planned activities. These are teacher-created lesson plans based on weekly/monthly themes. Activities reflect the Massachusetts State Guidelines. Themes are initially thought of by the teacher; however, they may change based on the interests of the group of toddlers.

Overall, teachers carry out a routine that is flexible and responds to the needs and interests of children in care.  The routine includes activities such as: physical activity and outdoor play, weather permitting, and child-initiated and teacher-initiated activities.

Additionally, teachers develop a curriculum that engages children in developmentally appropriate activities by planning specific learning experiences.  The curriculum includes activities such as: learning self-help skills that foster independence, opportunities to gain problem-solving and decision-making competencies and leadership skills, and opportunities to learn about proper nutrition, good health, and personal safety.  We also provide an environment that promotes cultural, social, and individual diversity.
