Preschool
Preschoolers are challenged on their level with planned activities. These are teacher-created lesson plans based on weekly/monthly themes. Activities reflect the Massachusetts State Guidelines. Themes are initially thought of by the teacher; however, they may change based on the interests of the group of preschoolers.
Overall, teachers carry out a routine that is flexible and responds to the needs and interests of children in care. The routine includes activities such as: physical activity and outdoor play, weather permitting, and child-initiated and teacher-initiated activities.
Additionally, teachers develop a curriculum that engages children in developmentally appropriate activities by planning specific learning experiences. The curriculum includes activities such as: learning self-help skills that foster independence, opportunities to gain problem-solving and decision-making competencies and leadership skills, and opportunities to learn about proper nutrition, good health, and personal safety. We also provide an environment that promotes cultural, social, and individual diversity.
